Welcome to the GTSouth League Dossier page. Here is where you'll find everyone whom is a part of the GTSouth gaming family as well as those whom have participated in the League & Judgement tournaments hosted by GTSouth.What is GTSouth?
GTSouth (Gaming Tournament South) is a gaming store that is family & friends owned which is stationed in Montgomery, Alabama. Originally a family & friend operated tournament group, GTSouth became known in areas of Alabama after its tournament debut in February 2011 which garnered it much praise among the fighting game community but then half a year later, expanded into a gaming store which opened its doors in late August of 2011. GTSouth specializes in selling retro games ranging from old Atari 2600 to current genre games for the Xbox 360, PS3, & Wii. Along with this, other services are available from CD scratch repairs, Computer/Console repairs, video game trade-ins (which you get higher rate trades in store credit than Gamestop), pre-orders/special orders, and tournaments. You're also able to try out a game before you buy it if you which to know how a game plays before purchasing it. In march, GTSouth is expecting to expand again from being gaming store to a gaming pub where individuals over the age of 21 will be able to purchase alcohol while watching game matches or sports games on a projected screen. This change is expected to be done in March 2012.
What is GTSouth League?
GTSouth League is a team based tournament where teams of 2 or 3, depending on the game, face off against each other in a seasonal tournament with a cash pot prize at the end of the season. At the current moment, league seasons now last within a 2 month period as opposed to the league trial run where it lasted for 3 months. Players will meet once every 2 weeks within the season on the first night they would pay a $25 entry fee and each night afterwards will pay $10 to participate. During these sessions, players will fight for points which will be used to rank the teams for their placement in the final night. On the final night, the last place team will then have to fight their way up through what is called "The Juggernaut", in which they must play against all the other teams that have ranked higher than them. The team that wins continues up the Juggernaut while the losing team is taken out for the remaining of the tournament. The top 2 teams at the end will win a percentage of the pot money from all the entries gathered from the previous nights leading up to the finals.
League tournaments usually consist of fighting games chosen by the staff of GTSouth & is then finalized by regular visitors & participants of GTSouth (in short, the customers). So far, Season #1 ended in December with the league game being "Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition v.2012 while Season #2 is currently being discussed to be "WWE All-Stars" but this will probably change.
